Recently it was revealed that consumers were running into some serious problems with their Samsung Galaxy Note 5. The issue that was coming up more frequently with Samsung’s latest flagship device is that users of the smartphone were accidentally inserting the S Pen into the handset backwards.We’re going to warn you right now, please do not insert the S Pen incorrectly because doing so will ruin your day and your smartphone. Now thanks to 9 to 5 Google, we’re able to see exactly what is happening to your handset when a user slides their S Pen into its slot incorrectly.
Unless you want to damage your newly acquired and expensive Samsung Galaxy Note 5, we suggest that you heed our warning and the warnings from Samsung, make sure your S Pen is put into its slot correctly. By sliding it backwards, the S Pen will get stuck and there’s a high probability that the internal S Pen detection mechanism will get damaged while attempting to retrieve the now stuck S Pen. Unfortunately, this design flaw exists and it’s a new problem with the Samsung Galaxy Note lineup as previous generations of the handset would prevent the S Pen from being able to fit into the slot incorrectly.
There are two levers that users would be dealing with if the S Pen happens to find itself loading into the slot backwards. Both levers are relatively close to one another and they are a pretty big deal when it comes to operating some of your smartphone features and holding the S Pen in place from sliding out. The first lever acts as a sensor that will be able detect when the S Pen is taken out in which case features like the Air Command menu are activated.
The second lever within the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 simply acts as a means of holding your S Pen from falling out. Because the bottom of the S Pen has a big enough lip for the lever clip to latch over, pulling it out will be tough without damaging that second lever but not impossible. However, what makes matter worse for consumers is that the first lever is made of plastic which is connected to the main board of the smartphone, a section that will be tough to fix.
If you by chance break the second lever then it’s not the end of your smartphone. While it’s certainly a bummer, your Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will still work. However, you will be forced to forfeit certain features such as the device recognizing when the S Pen is being taken out of the handset slot.Fortunately Samsung has placed a setting option that would allow users to turn off the S Pen detection all together.
