Some hours ago, Samsung finally unveiled two new phones, the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+. We practically knew all the details about these devices, but now we can confirm all of them. During the event, Samsung proudly reminded everyone how they were the first to launch a phone with a large display. Samsung is very proud of having created a phone with a curved display on both sides which launched earlier this year. Now, combining these two philosophies resulted in the Galaxy S6 Edge+, a device that is elegant as it is innovative.
The design of the Galaxy S6 Edge+ is kept almost untouched, but the company mentioned that they’ve refined it and that the metal is now stronger. Its curved display now measures 5.7 inches, but it keeps the same QHD resolution of the regular version, so it results in a pixel density of 518 ppi. While the processor is the same house-made Exynos 7420 found on the smaller version, the amount of RAM has increased to 4GB, thus future-proofing the phone a little bit more. They also managed to include an LTE modem Cat.9 thinking a little ahead too. The software has been tweaked a little bit to offer more functionality to the edges and wireless charging is supposed to be faster in the new phone. The cameras are identical to the ones included in the regular version.
We’ve covered some of the availability and pricing in some regions and now we have news for those interested who live in the UK. Three UK has announced that they will have this phone available and while no date for its arrival or price details were given, the company mentioned some benefits that they will offer. Those are: 4G at no extra cost and the ability to use the phone in 18 different countries (including the US, France, Italy, Spain, and Australia) as if it was used in the UK. The network of this carrier was voted the most reliable in the UK by YouGov for four quarters now. Some reports mention that it will be available for pre-order on August 18 and it will go on sale on September 4, while the prices will vary depending on the carrier.
