Tunein Radio has been available on the Android platform for a while now, offering up the ability to stream a rather large collection of radio stations, sports and talk radio as well as music all for free. Today Tunein has just announced they’re launching their new subscription service called Tunein Premium. The new service will cost customers just $7.99 a month in the U.S., and in addition to the free services that users already had access to with the standard free version of Tunein, they will also get things like live play-by-play coverage of all Major League Baseball games. If you’re a Baseball fan who loves listening to the games to keep up on scores and all the most exciting moments, (even if you can’t see them) then this is probably a service for you.
The premium service also allows for listening to live play-by-play coverage of all games in the Barclays Premier League as well as Bundesliga matches. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it also offers access to commercial-free music stations, over 600 in all. If you listen to audiobooks, Tunein Premium has you covered here too with access to over 40,000 of them, and they’ve even integrated a total of 16 language learning stations to help people who want to learn how to speak a new language.
In addition to launching in the United States, Tunein is making their premium service available to listeners in the UK as well as Canada, with prices set at £5.99 a month and $8.99 CAD a month respectively. If you don’t see Tunein Premium in the Play Store, there’s a reason for that. The premium service works from within the already existing Tunein radio app and is simply a subscription service you set up through the app itself, and thanks to Google Play’s new function of showing you your subscriptions from apps right in the Play Store from the my apps tab, you can always manage it from there. If you already listen to Tunein and have been waiting for a premium service that has no ads and offers more stuff, this is it, and it comes at a fairly decent price too. Tunein doesn’t make any mention of other regions getting the service, but there’s always a possibility they’ll be launching it to other markets where the app is available later on.
