UMi is one of the up-and-coming Chinese smartphone OEMs. This is not a particularly big company, nor a particularly well-known one, but they’re trying to change that by releasing compelling devices out to the market. UMi eMax, UMi Iron and UMi Hammer S are the company’s latest offerings, and we’ve reviewed the first two recently, so check that out if you’d like. Anyhow, the company has started teasing the arrival of a new device recently, the UMi eMax Mini. We’ve talked about this phone yesterday when the company announced that it will be the first Snapdragon-powered UMi-branded handset, and now we have some new info to share with you regarding this phone.
We’ve already seen the design of this device in yesterday’s article, but UMi has shared the black image of the phone this time around as well. You can’t exactly see the whole device this time around, but combined with yesterday’s image, you’ll get a good idea how will it look like. Anyhow, UMi has also shared some eMax Mini spec info. The device will sport a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS-NEO display from Sharp (which is supposed to offer far better colors than regular IPS display), along with a 3,050mAh battery. The handset will also ship with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera (Sony’s or Samsung’s sensor), and an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter. Unfortunately, we still don’t know which sensors are we looking at here. The phone will quite probably going to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core SoC considering this will be a mid-range smartphone, and the company has already teased a Snapdragon-branded 64-bit octa-core SoC. It is quite unrealistic to expect the Snapdragon 810 to be included in this package.
There you have it. The company still hasn’t released any detailed release info for this smartphone, but as we said yesterday, it will probably launch in the next couple of weeks. Why? Well, that’s how usually things go when UMi is concerned. Either way, stay tuned for additional details.
