Xiaomi has announced a number of devices this year, including quite a few mid-range and high-end smartphones / phablets. The company has also showcased a number of smart gadgets, which are not necessarily smartphones or phablets. That being said, Xiaomi has announced the Redmi Note 2 smartphone a couple of days ago after months of leaks and rumors. The Redmi Note 2 is a solid smartphone, and a very affordable one, but that’s not what we’re here to talk about. We’re here to talk a bit more about the Mi 4i, a handset which was launched back in April, read on.
The Mi 4i was initially launched in India back in April, and has since then rolled out to some other Asian countries as well. That being said, the Mi 4i has just been certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) in China. The device listed on TENAA looks identical to the one released in India back in April, but according to some previous rumors, this handset might sport a far more powerful SoC on the inside. TENAA’s listing doesn’t really share any of the spec details of this device, other than the fact that it will support fast charging, and TD-LTE / LTE FDD / TD-SCDMA / WCDMA / cdma2000 / CDMA 1X / GSM networks. Keep in mind that it is possible that this device actually sports the same Snapdragon 615 SoC as the original device launched in India. Either way, we’ll find out soon enough, the handset will quite probably launch in the coming weeks.
The Xiaomi Mi 4i sports a 5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) IPS LCD display, 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core SoC fuels this phone along with an Adreno 405 GPU. The 13-megapixel shooter is available on the back of this phone along with a dual-LED, dual tone flash, while you’ll be able to find a 5-megapixel snapper up front. The 3,120mAh non-removable battery is also a part of this package, and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with the MIUI 6 UI installed on top of it. Keep in mind that MIUI 7 might be included in the aforementioned variant of the device, we’ll see once Xiaomi unveils it. The Mi 4i is available in a range of color options: Dark Gray, Black, Yellow, White, Blue and Pink, while the device also supports two SIM cards and 4G LTE connectivity.
