After months and months of leaks and rumors, Xiaomi has finally announced the Redmi Note 2 handset about a week ago along with the MIUI 7 Android-based OS. We’ve already talked at length about the Redmi Note 2, a mid-range device which offers more than compelling specs and price. It will be interesting to see if Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will be able to outsell the Redmi Note, one of the best selling Xiaomi-branded devices ever. That being said, a Chinese portal IT168 has already dismantled the Redmi Note 2 handset, let’s check it out.
If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll be able to check out a number of dismantling pictures taken by the source. It seems like IT168 didn’t have any issues dismantling the Redmi Note 2, in other words, this device shouldn’t be all that difficult to break open and fix if something goes south. As far as specs go, the Redmi Note 2 sports a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS LCD display, 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card). The device is powered by MediaTek’s Helio X10 (MT6795) 64-bit octa-core SoC along with a PowerVR G6200 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel camera is available on the back of this phone, and a 5-megapixel snapper can be found up front. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Xiaomi’s MIUI 6 OS on top of it (MIUI 7 will arrive shortly), and a 3,060mAh battery is also available here. The Redmi Note 2 measures 152 x 76 x 8.3mm, while it weighs 160 grams. It is also worth mentioning that this is a dual-SIM handset which offers 4G LTE connectivity.

The device is available in China only at the moment in Black, White, Cyan, Pink and Yellow color options in both 16 and 32GB variants (the 32GB variant is called Redmi Note 2 Prime). The 16GB model costs 799 Yuan ($125) or 899 Yuan ($140), depending on the carrier, and the 32GB model is priced at 999 Yuan ($156). Xiaomi still didn’t say when will they launch this phone outside of China, but that will happen soon enough, stay tuned.
