Xiaomi has been all over the news for the past couple of weeks. The company is planning to release a couple of devices soon, or so it seems. The Redmi Note 2 was rumored for quite some time at this point, and the company’s Mi 5 flagship is also due to be released in the coming months. Before any of those devices see the light of day, Xiaomi might announce the Redmi 2 Prime smartphone which was rumored quite recently. This handset was outed by Flipkart not long ago, and it seems like we’re looking at the Redmi 2 handset in terms of design, which will sport somewhat better specs than the original.
That being said, Xiaomi is planning to announce the new version of their Android-based MIUI OS on August 13th, and that very same OS (+Google Play Services) will be unveiled in India on August 19th. It seems like the Redmi 2 Prime might be announced on either of those two dates. So, when will Redmi Note 2 arrive then? Well, we still don’t know, but a new pricing info surfaced recently. According to the source, the device might cost only 699 Yuan ($112), though that price seems well below what we expected. Take this info with a grain of salt, because the pricing really seems to be too low at this point.
The Redmi Note 2 is expected o sport a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of internal storage. The device will be powered by MediaTek’s Helio X10 64-bit octa-core SoC (at least according to rumors), but a Snapdragon variant is also possible. The device will offer 4G LTE support, and a 3,020mAh battery will also be a part of the package. The 13-megapixel shooter will be available on the back of this phone, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be located on its front side.
The Redmi Note 2 has leaked a number of times before, and these specs might even be spot on (though the SoC might be different in the end, but the pricing seems a bit off. Xiaomi will hopefully release this smartphone soon, and reveal how accurate these rumors were. We’ll keep you posted, stay tuned.
