We’ve talked about ZUK for quite a few times now. This new China-based company is backed by Lenovo and Qihoo 360, which makes them very prominent at the moment. ZUK has been teasing the arrival of their Cyanogen OS-powered ZUK Z1 smartphone for quite some time now, and earlier today its specs and pricing leaked. Well, we didn’t really have to wait for long for the company to officially unveil the device, considering that they’ve just officially unveiled this thing. Let’s check out what this phone has to offer, shall we.
The ZUK Z1 sports a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, along with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. This phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 SoC clocked at 2.5GHz, which means the earlier leak was spot on. The 13-megapixel OIS camera is available on the back of the ZUK Z1 (Sony’s IMX214 sensor, f/2.2 aperture), and an 8-megapixel shooter can be found up front (OmniVision’s sensor). The 4,100mAh battery is also a part of this package, and on the bottom of the device you’ll notice the Type-C USB 3.0 port. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here, and interesting enough, there’s no mention of Cyanogen OS anywhere. If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll notice that the device is running ZUK’s very own ZUI. This seems really weird considering every previous report was pointing to Cyanogen OS being installed on this phone, expect the one which leaked earlier today.
As you can see in the images down below, the ZUK Z1 sports a physical home button below the display which doubles as a fingerprint scanner. Both the power / lock and volume rocker buttons are available on the right-hand side of this device. This is a dual-SIM handset which offers 4G LTE connectivity, measures 155.7 x 77.3 x 8.9mmm, and weighs 175 grams. There you have it folks, this is the ZUK Z1, and it is priced at $285 for the Chinese market. The device will be sold in White and Grey color options, and we still don’t know if it will be available outside of China. It is possible that the international variant will sport Cyanogen OS (Google Services are blocked in China) or something to that effect. Either way, we’ll keep you posted.
