$100 Leather Case For OnePlus 2 Announced By OnePlus

With the accessories and personalization market for smartphones getting more lucrative by the day, mainstream phone makers are jumping into the sector which was once almost exclusively the domain of smaller, independent players. From Samsung’s Avenger-themed accessories and designer cases to Apple’s leather and silicon cases for its range of iPhones, from Motorola’s colorful back panels as part of its Moto Maker options to Asus’ View smart flip covers, multi-billion dollar enterprises are no strangers to smartphone personalization accessories. The latest to join the bandwagon is Oppo-owned smartphone startup OnePlus, which has now launched a leather case for its latest smartphone, the OnePlus 2, after having the teased the product on Google+ over the weekend.

The case is made in Italy out of “ash grey washed and traditionally tanned buttery soft leather”, according to the listing on the OnePlus store. The pouch is handcrafted by recognized premium accessories maker Hard Graft, and can be bought from the OnePlus store, for a price of $99.99 plus shipping. The pouch, pictured above, will be available in genuine Tuscan leather, and will have pockets on the inside that will be able to hold up to 4 credit cards. At press time, the case was listed as “out of stock” on the official OnePlus store. There’s no word as to when it will be back in stock.

The OnePlus Two is the sophomore effort of the Shenzhen-based, Hong Kong-headquartered OnePlus Inc. and comes with premium hardware for a pocket-friendly price. The smartphone was launched on July 28th, and features a 5.5-inch 1080p display panel. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 SoC (v2.1), which comes with an embedded octa-core 64-bit CPU clocked at a maximum of 1.8 GHz, along with an Adreno 430 GPU. The smartphone comes with a choice of either 3 GB RAM + 16 GB ROM or 4 GB RAM + 64 GB ROM, and runs the company’s proprietary Oxygen OS 2.0, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The smartphone comes with a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel secondary camera, and carries a 3,300 mAh Li-Po battery. The smartphone also happens to be one of the first mainstream smartphones to support microUSB 2.0 Type-C connectivity.
