Alcatel OneTouch are a consumer electronics and telecommunications business with a number of different products available for customers, ranging from tablets to smartphones to mobile hotspots and dongles. Alcatel have today announced the release of two new products into their portfolio, a 4G Car WiFi dongle and a WiFi Music Box. To write about the 4G WiFi device, this is designed to provide fast Internet access for people on the move and has the ability to connect up to fifteen devices, which is sure to keep everybody in the family connected. The 4G Car WiFi device is compatible with all car vehicles on the market (it is not clear if the device is only compatible with vehicles operating a 12V electrical system). It includes a pass-through USB port, which allows customers to plug their own charger adapters for tablets, cell ‘phones, laptops, cameras and similar. At the same time, Alcatel OneTouch are also releasing a companion application for both Android and iOS devices that allows customers to update and control their 4G LTE Car WiFi device remotely. The 4G Car WiFi dongle will be available across Europe next month.
Alcatel OneTouch’s second new product is the WiFi Music Box, which as the name might suggest is a device that connects to a WiFi network and plays music. The WiFi Music Box connects to a set of speakers and a WiFi network, which is then controlled from a single smartphone or tablet. It can playback either local or online music, through one room or multiple at the same time and Alcatel OneTouch state that the WiFi Music Box “is compatible with the most popular music streaming services and with all Qualcomm AllPlay devices.” To use the WiFi Music Box, customers simply need to connect the WiFi Music Box to the speakers in question, install the Music Box application onto a WiFi-enabled Android or iOS device, and then pick the music and room combinations as required. The WiFi Music Box will be available across the world in October.
Alcatel OneTouch’s General Manager of Smart Connectivity had this to say about the 4G Car WiFi and WiFi Music Box: “Our consumers require wireless connectivity wherever they go. With these two new products, our consumers are able to be Internet-connected in the car and to control multiple stereo speakers throughout the home with a single device.” Although both the 4G Car WiFi Dongle and WiFi Music Box will be available in October, we do not yet know the exact schedule or prices, but will keep you in the loop as and when we receive an update.
