Meizu has been all over the news lately. This China-based smartphone OEM has released their MX5 back in June, and they were expected to release the MX5 Pro later this year, but that won’t happen. Meizu’s VP has confirmed a while back that the MX5 Pro won’t be arriving, and that the company has decided to cancel the whole ‘MX Pro’ line of devices. That being said, the company’s VP has confirmed that they do intend to release a new premium flagship though, a device which will replace the MX5 Pro. It was originally said that the phone won’t arrive before Q1 2016, but our source has revealed that it will launch before the end of this month.
That being said, the company’s VP has shared partial renders of the upcoming handset earlier today, and now we have a new leak to share with you. If you take a look at the provided image above, you’ll get to see the alleged new Meizu-branded flagship in the flesh. As you can see, the physical home button is a part of this phone’s desig once again, and interesting enough, Meizu’s VP did not reveal that part of the device in the renders he released earlier. As it usually goes with leaks like this, we’re still not sure this is legit, keep in mind this is just a random leak at this point.
That’s not all the info we have at this point, not even close. As you probably already know, the mysterious Meizu ‘NIUX’ smartphone has been popping up all over the place lately. The handset has surfaced on AnTuTu recently, and its source code popped up on Weibo a couple of days after that. According to AnTuTu’s listing, this handset will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor, and is quite probably the device Meizu intends to release this month. We already know that the phone will sport a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display because Meizu’s co-founder confirmed it recently. The device will also sport 3 or 4GB of RAM (both variants are possible), 21-megapixel rear-facing camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
