Google’s Android One program was launched in September last year, and despite the company’s efforts to make this an instant success, the sales of Android One devices didn’t go as well as Google has hoped. That being said, the company is determined to make Android One successful, and has since the beginning of this year partnered up with a number of companies in order to push new Android One devices out to the market. Google has pushed Infinix Hot 2 smartphone to African smartphone market last month, and the same handset is now reaching UAE, read on.
As previously mentioned, Google has once again partnered up with Infinix in order to push the Hot 2 (X510) smartphone to new markets. The device will be available in the United Arab Emirates exclusively on Souq.com, and only the 1GB variant of the device will be available in UAE. That being said, let’s take a look at the specs of this smartphone shall we. The Infinix Hot 2 features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card). The device is powered by MediaTek’s quad-core SoC running at 1.3GHz, and a 2,200mAh battery is also a part of this package. The 8-megapixel camera (BSI sensor) can be found on the back of this phone, and a 2-megapixel snapper is available up front. This is dual-SIM a device which offers 3G HSPA+ connectivity, so 4G LTE is not available here. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here, and it’s a stock build of Google’s OS, of course. Android One project is all about offering smartphone with Google’s stock Android installed on top of them, which makes updating them a real breeze for the Mountain View giant.
The Infinix Hot 2 is clearly an entry-level handset, and such is its price as well. The phone is priced at AED299, which comes to $81. That’s more or less it, this is an entry-level handset for UAE market, and it’s very affordable at the same time, as it should be. Google is pushing their Android One program to more and more markets, UAE follows Africa, Spain and Portugal, who knows what comes next.
