New Update Hits Sony’s Xperia Z3 Series
Sony’s full range of Xperia Z devices now run Android 5.1.1 and while it wasn’t exactly a quick rollout, it was controlled and there have been no major issues with these updates, so well done to Sony there. This new update keeps things at Android 5.1.1, of course, but brings the software version up to 23.4.A.1.200 and should have hit the Xperia Z3 smartphones and the Tablet Compact, too. Sadly, this does not plug a stagefright hole, which is a bit of ahead-scratcher from Sony.
Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Getting Android 5.1.1
While the Galaxy S5 Mini wasn’t exactly a head-turner for many, those that just wanted a modern smartphone in a smaller package will no doubt still enjoy theirs. Those in the US with the model number of SM-G800R4 should have seen an update to Android 5.1.1 this week. This is mostly an under-the-hood update, but one that’s nice to see finally rolling out.

The OnePlus Two was released with the team’s own OxygenOS platform, which is basically just stock Android, but an interesting software build nonetheless. Now, version 2.1 is rolling out to the second flagship killer, and it brings with it a pretty nice manual camera mode as we covered earlier on in the week.
T-Mobile Offers Up Samsung Pay Updates to Galaxy S6 Series and Galaxy Note 5
Samsung has been very busy this week with software updates, and it seems as if T-Mobile has been given the Lion’s share of these updates. All of their 2015 flagships seem to have been updated with some sort of Samsung Pay update, probably laying the groundwork for a future rollout on T-Mobile. Either way, those interested can click on their device name for more info straight from T-Mobile; Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy Note 5.
Verizon Brings the Galaxy Note 12.2 Pro Up to Android 5.1.1
The Galaxy Note 12.2 Pro, the tablet that Samsung released quite some time ago now, before Apple reinvented the Pencil, is getting an update on Verizon. The update brings the massive tablet up to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop at long last, and should keep it ticking for some time to come. More info here.
