Android Wear Support Comes To EvolveSMS In 4.0 Update

SMS text messaging may not be as widely used as apps like Whatsapp, Hangouts, LINE and others, but it’s still useful for those who either refuse to download a messaging app or simply are oblivious to their existence. Stock messaging apps though can be rather simplistic and sometimes boring. This is where third party messaging apps are rising above what’s available as the pre-installed option for most devices as they tend to offer more features while also managing to look better too. EvolveSMS is a great example of this with its now material design style UI and large list of features and functionality.

Evolve was already a great SMS alternative, and it’s just gotten an update to the 4.0 version which introduces a bunch of new functionality, namely support for Android 6.0 Marshmallow which is due to be released sometime this Fall, and support for Android Wear devices which means that users who own an Android Wear smartwatch can now see and interact with EvolveSMS from their wrists instead of having to pull out their phones. These two features will probably be the biggest of the included set of new changes, and rightfully so as one is geared towards the future proofing of the app for support of the new upcoming software version for Android, and the other is a budding device technology that more and more people are going to be interacting with. These aren’t the only changes though.

The new update has also added support for devices with fingerprint sensors, so for those who have a device with a fingerprint sensor on board EvolveSMS now has fingerprint authentication for use, presumably to send messages or perhaps unlock the application. The team at Klinker apps has also revamped the intro screen, which is supposed to make the introduction more informative and easy for new users to get acquainted with the app. The UI and settings have also been updated, and another new feature allows users to find nearby friends (likely similar to Facebook’s nearby friends feature) and share contact information with them if you like. The changelog lists a bunch of other new features and changes as well, including support for launchers which have unread count badges. If you’re already a user of Evolve, you should be able to see the update live in the Play Store as of now. If you’re a new user looking to give the app a try, simply head to the Play Store and install.
