Back in March at Mobile World Congress, ALCATEL ONETOUCH announced their IDOL 3 smartphone which boasted some decent specifications for a low cost, and it came unlocked allowing consumers to bring it to virtually any network as long it was GSM which meant the likes of T-Mobile, AT&T, Cricket and others. Today the company is expanding on the IDOL 3 lineup by announcing the IDOL 3C, which brings all the features people loved about the original IDOL 3 as well as a sense of style thanks to the phone being available in 5 fun colors of white, red, green, pink, and yellow.
With the IDOL 3C, the toughest decision customers will have to make is the color as the specs display that the phone doesn’t compromise on hardware. It comes equipped with a 13MP rear-facing camera with a “best in class” sensor that allows for great quality low-light shots thanks to the large f2.0 aperture, and EIS video stabilization to make sure your videos look their best. Flip over to the front and you’ll find an 8MP camera with a wide 84 degree viewing angle so you can take perfect selfie shots. No more worrying about getting everyone in the picture. Viewing those great images won’t be a problem for people either thanks to the 5.5-inch IPS Full HD display. ALCATEL ONETOUCH included their Technicolor Color Enhance software in the screen so users can expect excellent visibility even in bright sunlight according to the company.
On the inside, the IDOL 3C is sporting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (MSM89396) octa-core processor with four cores clocked at 1.5GHz and four cores clocked at 1.0GHz, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage space with expandable storage up to 128GB via a microSD card. Those who enjoy great sound will also love the dual front facing stereo speakers which utilize JBL audio with Clarifi Technology to deliver 3D Hi-Fi sound. One interesting feature users will want to take note of is the orientation-free UI which ALCATEL ONETOUCH states is 100 percent reversible. The idea here is that users can be holding the phone in any orientation and the display will be symmetrical so it looks as though they’re always viewing the screen straight on. The IDOL 3C will be running Android Lollipop, is powered by a 2910mAh battery, and it supports GSM bands 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS 850/900/1900/2100, LTE FDD 1/2/7/8/20, and it supports LTE Cat 4 with downlink 150Mbps and uplink 50Mbps. At the moment, there are no details on availability or pricing but cost wise the IDOL 3C shouldn’t be much different from the original IDOL 3.
