Fossil Shows Off Their Upcoming Android Wear Smartwatch

We’ve seen a ton of smartwatches released in the last year or so. Many smartphone OEMs are actually releasing their smartwatch offerings, and a number of watch makers will also do that in the coming months / years. Speaking of smartwatches, Google’s Android Wear platform is currently quite popular in the smartwatch world, a number of Android Wear-powered smartwatches have been released recently, and another one will arrive shortly. I don’t know if you remember, but we talked about Fossil’s Android Wear-powered smartwatch back in August, and now we have some new info when it comes to that, read on.

This smartwatch will be powered by Intel’s chip, as the previous report stated, and Fossil will actually be releasing three Fossil Q devices for the holiday season, a connected bracelet, a non-display watch and a smartwatch. The latter one is the most interesting to us, of course, not only because it’s a smartwatch, but because it will run Android Wear OS. Fossil will also release a companion app which will be compatible with these devices, including the smartwatch, and the smartwatch will be round. As you all know, there are quite a few circular display smartwatches available out in the market at the moment, so it will be interesting to see what Fossil has to bring to the table. The company has teased their upcoming smartwatch on their official webpage, as you can see in the provided images.

That’s pretty much everything we know about these devices, Fossil didn’t exactly release a ton of info when it comes to them. We do know that they’ll launch before the holiday season, and if an earlier report is to believed, we’ll see them announced next month. Unfortunately, we still don’t know if this smartwatch will be made out of metal (even though it seems like it in the image), or will Fossil opt for some other build material, but we’ll hopefully get more info soon. Price will be a crucial factor here, big tech companies have the upper hand thanks to brand recognition (at least in the smartwatch world), and Fossil will really have to pay attention to the price point. Either way, stay tuned for additional details, we hope that some info will leak before the company unveils their products next month.
