Sony is a huge company, but they’re not really doing that well in the smartphone world. Sony Mobile has been having issues turning a profit for quite some time now, their smartphone sales are far from ideal, and the company has been trying to figure out how to change that. They’ve released the Xperia Z4 / Z3+ (depending on the region) earlier this year, and we’ve expected them to release the Xperia Z5 as well before the end of the year. That has happened earlier this month during iFA in Berlin when Sony unveiled three Xperia Z5 device, the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium. The Xperia Z5 Premium is the first smartphone to sport a 4K panel, and is also the highest end one here. Those of you who are looking for a compact smartphone, well, the Xperia Z5 Compact might be ideal for you.
The smallest Xperia Z5 smartphone has been available for quite some time now, but its availability is still somewhat limited. You can’t exactly buy it anywhere you want, and if you’re from Europe and are interested in getting this smartphone, you might want to read on. The Xperia Z5 Compact is currently available in a number of European countries, the device is available in the UK via Carphone Warehouse, CPW, O2 and giff gaff. The device will also be available from Amazon, Clove, EE and Handtec in a week or so. The handset costs £449.99 at Carphone Warehouse, SIM free, and you can get it via a number of other listed sites on contract as well.
The device is also available via Sony Mobile’s Store in a number of European countries. The device is now available in Italy (€599), Poland (PLN 2,599), Spain (€599) and Sweden (SEK 5,790). Keep in mind that the device will reach more countries shortly. The Xperia Z5 Compact sports a 4.6-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS LCD display, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor, and a 23-megapixel camera is available on its back. The Xperia Z5 Compact offers IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, and a 2,700mAh non-removable battery is also a part of this package. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Sony’s UI installed on top of Google’s OS. The device measures 127 x 65 x 8.9mm, while it weighs 138 grams.
