Huawei has been pushing a lot of devices out to the market this year. The company has unveiled their P8 line of devices, the Honor 7 high-end handset, MediaPad M2 tablet, Honor 7i smartphone with the flip-up camera, etc. Well, this China-based smartphone OEM still has some devices to unveil this year, like the Huawei Mate S which has leaked a number of times thus far. As you might recall, the Mate7 was one of the best phablets in 2014, and was announced during IFA in Berlin. Well, its successor will be announced at the show this year, and by the looks of it, it will be called Mate S, not Mate8. The Huawei Mate8 might launch as well though, as we’ve seen that device leak as well recently.
That being said, new real life Mate S images leaked recently, giving us a really good look at the device. If you take a look at the images below this article, you’ll get to see the Mate S phablet’s front and back side. As you can see, black bars are still present here, so it probably won’t be the bezel-less design we were hoping for, but the handset still looks really sleek though, and those black bars are not that thick. The Huawei logo is located below the display, and you can expect this thing to sport on-screen buttons considering there are no physical or capacitive ones below the display. The Mate S will be made out of metal, and it will also sport the fingerprint scanner on the back, just like its predecessor. Next to the rear-facing camera, you’ll see the dual-LED, dual tone flash.
The Huawei Mate S will reportedly sport a 5.7-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display (supporting Force Touch technology) along with 3GB of LPDD4 RAM. The device will feature a 20-megapixel camera on the back, and will be fueled by the HiSilicon Kirin 935 64-bit octa-core processor. The 8-megapixel camera will be located on the front side of this phablet, and the 2.5D curved glass will be placed on this device’s display. There you have it folks, Huawei’s press conference is right around the corner (September 2nd), so stay tuned.
