You’ve probably heard of QiKU brand by now, a new company backed by both Coolpad and Qihoo 360. Well, this company has announced three new smartphones last month, with Qiku Q Terra being the most powerful out of the bunch. These handsets are interesting, and so is the camera tech included on the inside. We reported earlier this month that QiKU’s devices use FotoNation’s ‘FotoSavvy’ algorithms in both still and video image captures, which improves the performance of the QiKU cameras. Well, it seems like QiKU is not the only company FotoNation has partnered up with, read on.
According to a press release the company sent us, FotoNation has partnered up with Huawei as well, both the company’s Huawei P8 and Honor 7 products include the FotoSavvy algorithms. This tech packs in art color filters, while it also uses the latest HDR (High Dynamic Range) engine. “The capability and quality of a smartphone’s camera is increasingly becoming a key criteria for users evaluating these devices. We consistently strive to provide our users with the best photography experience. FotoNation is a leader in the digital imaging space with a deep understanding of our devices. Implementing FotoNation technology in the P8, Honor 7, and other handsets is a critical step toward a simpler and more intuitive mobile camera experience,” said Gang He, President of Huawei mobile phone product line. Interesting enough, FotoNation’s face-and-eye detection and tracking tech is already used in 60% of tier-one smartphones out there.
Huawei P8 (including three devices) and Honor 7 are high-end offerings from the company, well, the Huawei P8 Lite is actually a mid-ranger, but Huawei P8 and P8Max are definitely high-end offerings. These devices have been available for quite some time now, and the Honor 7 smartphone has launched in Europe a couple of weeks back. All of these devices are made out of metal and sport really capable rear-facing cameras. The Huawei P8 line of devices features a 13-megapixel rear-facing shooter, while the Honor 7 equips a 20-megapixel snapper. Android Lollipop comes pre-installed on all of these devices along with the company’s EMUI (Emotion UI) Android skin.
