Leak: Google Nexus 5X in all its Glory

There have been quite a few Nexus leaks going around this week, with everyone in Berlin playing with new toys from the likes of Samsung, Sony, ASUS, Acer, LG, and others, it’s a bit surprising, actually. This week started out with CNET reporting that Google will be hosting a Nexus event on September 29th in San Francisco. Now this is not confirmed, but where it is CNET posting it, it’s pretty much confirmed. Then we got another leak saying that the name of the device is going to be the Nexus 5X, this time coming out of Android Authority. Now, we have another leak, coming from AndroidPIT, and it shows us the cleanest look of the new Nexus 5 we’ve seen yet.

On the back you can see that it has the camera, along with dual-flash as well as what appears to be a laser auto-focus module. Which we’ve seen on many of LG’s smartphones recently, including the LG G3 and LG G4. Below that is a circle button, which is actually said to be a fingerprint sensor. That’s not a huge surprise considering this is the launch device for Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and that version of Android is going to feature native support for fingerprint sensors. So again, not a huge surprise. You also have your Nexus logo there, which looks almost the same as recent Nexus devices. It appears to be made of polycarbonate this time around, at least on the back and perhaps the sides. You can also see – if you look very closely – there is a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom.

While we can’t see the front, we pretty much know what to expect from the front of the device. Likely black bezels as well as no physical buttons. According to the leak from earlier on in the week, the Nexus 5X is going to be available in white, black and blue. Hopefully the black and blue models will have that soft-touch plastic that was originally used on the Nexus 5 in 2013. Either way, Nexus season is upon us, and after IFA, that’s what is next in store for the Android World. Definitely an exciting time.
