At IFA today, Lenovo introduced a new model, the VIBE S1, into their stable of VIBE phones. It has a classy, curved Gorilla Glass 3 design and metal frame that incorporates a premium look and comfortable grip with the entire device weighing less than 5 ounces. It is designed with those of us that like to take selfie photos – it has, not one, but two front-facing (FFC) cameras, making it the first dual-selfie smartphone. This technology allows the user to swap or mix different photo backgrounds to create entirely new images or blurred backgrounds. The Lenovo VIBE S1 will give the user the ultimate selfie photo to share on their social media networks.
The VIBE S1 sports a 5-inch IPS LCD Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. For processing power, Lenovo grabbed the 64-bit Media Tek MT6752 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with 128GB of expandability via a microSD card slot. For power, it uses a non-removable 2500mAh battery.
One of the most exciting aspects of the VIBE S1 is in the camera area, specifically the FFC. It has a great main camera with a 13MP BSI sensor, with phase-detection autofocus, and a dual-colored LED flash that allows for more balanced color tones based on ambient lighting brightness and temperatures. However, it also uses dual cameras for its FFC area. The VIBE S1 combines an 8MP primary BSI sensor with a 2MP secondary FFC. This allows for crisp images and an advance depth of field that gives the user unprecedented options to let their creativity flow with the backgrounds of their selfie photos. You can incorporate background blur, swap out your background and get better low-light results.
The new Lenovo VIBE S1 is a picture and selfie takers’ dream – it combines an ultra-slim, elegant design to give you a smartphone you can take anywhere with you and feel ‘dressed-up’ for those formal functions or the VIBE S1 will look right at home as your daily driver. You will be the hit at any function with the coolest group selfies ever posted on social media. The device even has a VIBE Xtension Selfie Flash for even better selfie photos. The VIBE S1 combines four easy ways to snap a perfect selfie – three second timer, tap anywhere, blink or hold up the “V” hand sign.
The VIBE S1 is running Android 5.0 Lollipop and the device measures 143.3 x 70.8 x 7.8 mm and weighs in at 132 grams. It uses 4G LTE data speeds, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for connectivity. It comes in Pearl White and Midnight Blue and will cost start at $299, but will not be available in North America.
