Chromebooks have been around for quite some time now, these are essentially laptops which run Google’s Chrome OS. These devices are usually quite affordable, small and light, and have been selling really well lately. Chromebooks don’t fit everyone’s needs and are somewhat limited as far as functionality goes, but they’re extremely useful for certain scenarios. Anyhow, A number of manufacturers have released their very own version of Chromebooks, Samsung, HP, Acer, Asus… and the OEM we’ll talk about today, Lenovo. The company has just announced yet another Chromebook at this year’s IFA in Berlin, so let’s check it out.
The Lenovo Chromebook 100S features a relatively industrial and plain look, which doesn’t have to be a bad thing at all. This is actually an entry-level Chromebook model, if we can call it that, and it will cost $179. The device features an 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 display along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Intel’s N2840 SoC is fueling this thing, and the device weighs 1.18kg. This device is 1.98cm thick, and it will ship with 100GB of free Google Drive space. The Chromebook 100S sports both USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports (1 of each), a 4-in-1 card reader, audio jack and an HDMI port.
This isn’t one of the most powerful Chromebooks out there, but it’s very affordable though, so it might appeal to quite a few people. The device looks rather sturdy, you can check out some images in the gallery down below if you’d like. Lenovo didn’t exactly release a lot of Chromebooks in the past, but their N20p offerings was well-received. That Chromebook was less powerful than the 100S, but it offered a touchscreen as part of the package, which is something Chromebook 100S does not offer. That probably won’t matter to the vast majority of you, but it is definitely worth mentioning.
