Meizu has unveiled their new flagship, Meizu PRO 5, and a number of additional hardware, including a smart router and earphones. That’s not all this China-based smartphone OEM introduced today though, they’ve also unveiled a new version of the company’s Android-based operating system, Flyme 5.0. Interesting enough, this OS doesn’t come pre-installed on the PRO 5 flagsihp just yet, it will come in a form of an update later on though. That being said, let’s talk more about Flyme 5.0, shall we.
Unfortunately, Meizu did not share a lot of Flyme 5.0 detailed info thus far, but the company did release some info, including a promo video, and we also got a chance to play with the Meizu MX5 which had Flyme 5.0 per-installed. The Flyme 5.0 is going to have 11% better battery life than Flyme 4.5, at least according to the info company released. Better battery life is alwasy great to have, and it seems like OEMs improve this aspect on devices with every new update, and Meizu is not exception.Anyhow, if you take a look below this article, you’ll notice a gallery full of images. These are images from Meizu’s ‘Go PRO’ event which was held today, and you can see Flyme 5.0 running on Meizu MX5, as mentioned above. Below the gallery, you’ll find an embedded YouTube video which will give you an even closer look at Meizu’s new OS.
As I’ve already mentioned, the company didn’t share a detailed changelog with the public just yet, but in these images / video you’ll notice that the OS is noticeably more flat in terms of the design, and Meizu has also included new animations in there. The whole OS has been slightly revamped in terms of the design, but just enough for us to notice it, and for it to look different. By taking a look at the content down below, you’ll get to see Meizu’s music, weather, stopwatch… and a number of other pre-installed applications in there.
