Meizu PRO 5 Specifications

We’ve seen a number of rumors, leaks and official teaser when it comes to the Meizu PRO 5 over the last couple of weeks. All that info suggested that this will be company’s new flagship, and that’s exactly what it is. Meizu has unveiled this smartphone in China recently, and we’ve already covered its initial announcement, if you’d like to check it out. That being said, we’re here to take a closer look at PRO 5’s specifications, read on.

The Meizu PRO 5 sports a 5.7-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080, 387 PPI) 2.5D Super AMOLED display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 on top of it. In addition, it is worth mentioning that this display has an 88-degree view angle, and 10000:1 contrast ratio. The Meizu PRO 5 will actually be available in two variants, the first one will ship with 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM (running at 1600MHz) and 32GB of internal storage, while the second model will sport 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of native storage. Both of these variants offer microSD expansion, which is always a good thing to have.

The Meizu PRO 5 is made out of aluminum magnesium alloy, and sports two SIM card slots, as well as 4G LTE connectivity. Speaking of which, this phone supports TD-LTE (band 38/39/40/41), FDD-LTE (band 1/3/7) and TD-SCDMA (band 34/39) networks, along with GSM and WCDMA, of course. As far as camera sensors go, you’ll find a 21-megapixel snapper (f/2.2 aperture, fast photo capture in 0.7 seconds) on the back of Meizu’s new flagship. Meizu has decided to go with Sony’s IMX230 sensor here, and there’s a 6P lens (sapphire protected) on top of it, while the camera also has built-in ISP as well. You’ll also be able to find a dual-LED, dual tone flash on the back of this device, and a Laser Autofocus is also available. The 5-megapixel shooter (OmniVision’s OV5670 sensor, f/2.2 aperture) is located on the front of the device.

Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on the Meizu PRO 5, and the company’s Flyme 4.5 UI is available on top of Google’s operating system. Interesting enough, Flyme 5 doesn’t come pre-installed here, but Meizu will push that update to the PRO 5 soon. Meizu’s mBack physical home button is once again located below the display, and it also doubles as a fingerprint scanner. The company has also included their mCharge 2.0 fast charging (12V/12A) here (up to 65% in 30 minutes), which should be able to charge up this phone in no time. Speaking of charging, the Meizu PRO 5 ships with a 3,050mAh battery on the inside. As far as audio is concerned, the company has included the ES9018 + OPA1612 combination for clear Hi-Fi 2.0 sound output, while a dual-microphone with positive noise reduction is also available here. The Type-C USB 3.0 port is also a part of this package, but Meizu confirmed that you’ll be able to use USB 2.0 function as well.

The Meizu PRO 5 measures 156.7 x 78 x 7.5mm, while it weighs 166 grams. This phablet will be available in Gray, Silver White, Silver Black, Gold and Rose Gold color options, which gives you plenty of options when purchasing the device. We still don’t have any pricing info, but will update this post once that is released.

UPDATE: The lower-end model of this phone will cost 2,800 Yuan ($439), while Meizu priced the higher-end device at 3,100 Yuan ($490) in China. The phone will go on sale starting October 12th.
