For weeks there have been rumors about a new LG device following the details about their upcoming event for October 1st, which was first thought to be the LG G4 Pro, but was later speculated to be the LG V10. Some leaked press renders of the V10 showed up earlier today which displayed the phone from all sides prior to LG’s event showing, and as of now LG has officially announced the LG V10 which they state was “designed with creativity in mind.” The phone is LG’s take on a device which offers secondary screen functions as well as some enhanced multimedia features like dual front cameras and multi-view recording.
When it comes to main features and hardware specifications, the LG V10 is packing a 5.7-inch Quad-HD quantum IPS main display with 513 PPI, with the secondary IPS display sitting just above it where the front camera sensors are located. This screen is set up so users can have it in an “always on” mode for displaying things like weather and date information when the main screen is asleep, or when the main screen is awake it can be used for launching apps from shortcuts. Taking this approach, LG claims the V10 can save the user battery life so they don’t have to wake the main display to see these key details as the second screen works independently. Additionally, LG states the second screen can also be use to display notifications without disturbing the user when they’re already engaged in other content like playing games or watching movies.
On the rear LG has equipped the V10 with a 16MP sensor with an f1.8 aperture for increased visibility in low-light along with optical image stabilization for reducing blur on images. The rear camera also offers manual mode for video capture capabilities, while also offering the ability to record video in HD, FHD, or UHD at either 16:9 or 21:9 aspect ratios. LG has integrated other features in the phone to make the most out of videos too, like steady record, snap video, 15 sec. auto edit, quick video editor, quick share, audio monitor and wind noise filter, all which LG states should help people capture professional quality video. On the front the LG V10 sports dual 5MP camera sensors aimed at providing users with standard selfies in an 80 degree angle range or wide angle shots with a 120 degree range when they need to capture everything in view.
As for the rest of the hardware specs, the LG V10 comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor which is the same CPU LG used for the LG G4, 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and 64GB of internal storage space that is technically expandable up to 2TB via a microSD card, although there isn’t currently a microSD with that size on the market just yet. It’s also powered by a removable 3,000mAh battery and runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. For network and connectivity it supports LTE-A Cat 6, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS, and USB 2.o. All of the specs sound great, but LG notes that the specs may vary depending on the particular market the phone is released in, so it’s possible not all models will be exactly the same on the hardware front. The phone features a stainless steal frame with a silicone material LG calls Dura Skin making up the rest of the outer body which should help to keep the phone durable and resistant to scratches and dings. The LG V10 comes in Space Black, Luxe White, Modern Beige, Ocean Blue, and Opal Blue, and although LG hasn’t announced pricing details or exact release dates yet, the phone will be available in Korea starting in October, followed by the U.S., China, and other “key countries” in Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, with more details on other markets being revealed in the weeks following today’s announcement.
