Meizu has released four devices thus far this year, the M1, M1 Note, M2 Note and MX5 handsets. These are all solid offerings by the company, and the latter one is the company’s flagship for 2015. Meizu was also expected to release the MX5 Pro this year, but their exec denied that will happen. In fact, he said that the whole ‘MX Pro’ line is now cancelled, and that the company is working on a new premium handset / premium line of devices. We didn’t really have any info regarding this new handset(s) until yesterday when some additional info surfaced.
The Helio X20-powered ME5 handset rumor surfaced, and the Exynos 7420-powered ‘NIUX‘ device popped up on AnTuTu. Judging by this info, the company might actually be working on two separate devices, even though the ‘NIUX’ one has more credibility at the moment. These two might actually be the same device, and the rumors might be completely off as far as SoC listing goes, we’ll see. Anyhow, we have a new leak to share with you today, considering the alleged Meizu ME5 chassis surfaced in China. If you take a look at the images down below, you’ll notice that the chassis is made out of metal, and that the 3.5mm headphones jack is actually located on the bottom of this smartphone. There’s also a cutout for what seems to be a micro USB port, but it’s possible Meizu will opt for Type-C USB 3.0 instead. The phone will almost certainly ship with Meizu’s mCharge fast charge technology, and you’ll also find the company’s Flyme UI on top of Google’s Android OS here.
The leak didn’t exactly share any info regarding the display size, but if we had to guess, we’d say this is a 5.5-inch display, or at least something close to it. This handset will be powered by either the Helio X20 or Exynos 7420 processor, and it will include 3 or 4GB of RAM (both variants are possible actually). The 21-megapixel shooter is expected to be available on the back of this device, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be available up front. This phone probably won’t launch until Q1 2016, at least according to the latest available info, but it’s possible Meizu might opt to launch it sooner. Either way, stay tuned for more info.
