Meizu Pro 5 Heading to India in 2016

This past week, Meizu announced the Pro 5 over in Beijing. Now we knew that the device was going to be sold in China, as that is Meizu’s biggest market right now, and their home market. It’s also easier for them to sell devices cheaper in China seeing as everything is done in China and they have a tight hold on their production line in China. Lately the company has been expanding into India, and expanding in a big way. However with the Meizu Pro 5 costing around Rs. 30,000, many wondered if Meizu would actually bring it over to India, seeing as that market likes the much cheaper phones like the Meizu M2 Note and the Xiaomi Mi 4i, which are closer to Rs. 10,000.

According to Meizu’s VP, Li Nan, they will be bringing the Pro 5 over to India. But it won’t be until 2016, unfortunately. And this is due to the supply chain. It actually won’t be available in China until October, even though the reservations for it have already begun. It doesn’t have Flyme 5 just yet, which will begin rolling out to devices on November 12th after the open beta which starts on October 12th. It’ll be starting with the MX5 and then branching out to their other devices. However, the company did not go into specifics as to which of their devices would be getting the update to Flyme 5, we do know that the Pro 5 will have it. And it wouldn’t be too surprising to see the M2 Note and the M2 get it as well. Seeing as they were announced earlier this year.

With the Meizu Pro 5, we’re looking at a 5.7-inch 1920x1080p Super AMOLED Display, Exynos 7420 octa-core processor, 3GB or 4GB of RAM with 32GB or 64GB of storage, a 21.16MP camera around back (it’s the Sony IMX230 sensor) as well as a 3050mAh battery inside. It is an aluminum unibody, and looks quite similar to the MX5 actually.

The Pro 5 is a pretty interesting smartphone from Meizu, and it’s bound to do well. Even in the tough market that is India. We’ll have to keep an eye out to see how well it actually does over there.
