Meizu’s VP, Li Nan, has confirmed a while back that the company won’t release the MX5 Pro handset. He also said that they’re going to scrap the ‘MX Pro’ line altogether, and that they’re working on a new premium device / line of devices. That being said, we’ve seen a ton of Meizu ‘NIUX’ leaks thus far, including a benchmark and source code listing. We’ll talk more about this device in a minute, but before we do, it is worth mentioning that the company has announced that the new flagship will launch on September 23rd in China. Furthermore, Meizu has also posted a number of images revealing invites for said event, let’s check them out.
If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll get to see six official images showcasing Meizu’s media invites for the ‘Meizu GO Pro’ event. Interesting enough, this box actually contains a GoPro-like camera, a model of it at least. Some of you might think this is odd, but we’re talking about a company which sent out invites containing the back cover of iPhone 5C, and an old Nokia phone, so nothing can really surprise us when it comes to Meizu’s invites. Anyhow, this invitation may suggest that the company plans to announce an action cam on the event as well, but it also might be symbolic, as in ‘go Pro’, because the company’s upcoming flagship will most probably going to be called ‘Pro 5’, at least according to the leaked retail packaging of the device. This box also contains some additional gifts and what not.
Meizu’s upcoming handset will, according to recent info, feature a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage. The 3GB variant will ship with 32GB of internal storage, and the 64GB model will come with 64GB of in-built storage. Samsung’s Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor is said to power this smartphone, and a 21-megapixel camera will most probably be located on the back of this device. The 5-megapixel snapper will be included up front, and Android 5.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed here with Meizu’s Flyme UI on top of it.
