Meizu's New Flagship Will Launch On September 23rd

The last handset Meizu released is Meizu MX5, the company’s flagship for this year. The Meizu MX5 was announced back in July, and we’ve reviewed this device a while back, in case you’d like to check it out. Like many other Meizu-branded devices, the Meizu MX5 has lots to offers, sports really solid specs, and great build quality, while it’s not all that expensive. Many people have expected Meizu to unveil the Meizu MX5 Pro later this year until the company’s VP basically said that it won’t happen because they’re scraping the whole ‘MX Pro’ line of devices. Meizu’s VP did say that the company is working on a new premium device though, and our source said that it will launch at the end of this month. Well, the company’s has just revealed the release date for this device, read on.

If you take a look at the image above this article, you’ll get to see what Meizu shared via their official Twitter account. As you can see, the date clearly says ‘September 23rd’, and the captions reads ‘Meizu Go Pro’. It is rather interesting Meizu opted to go with this caption, especially considering they scraped the whole ‘MX Pro’ line. Will the new device contain the ‘Pro’ naming as well? It is possible. Anyhow, the company’s co-founder has confirmed recently that this device will feature a 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, and the device has seemingly leaked on AnTuTu recently, not to mention its source code surfaced as well. The handset is called Meizu ‘NIUX’, and according to the available info, this device will be fueled by the Exynos 7420 14nm 64-bit octa-core processor you can find in every flagship smartphone / phablet Samsung has released this year. The device will also feature a 21-megapixel camera on the back, and will ship with 3/4GB of RAM (both variants are possible). The 5-megapixel snapper is said to be located up front, and the device will be made out of metal.

You can also expect this phone to ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed with Meizu’s Flyme UI installed on top of Google’s OS. It is also worth mentioning that the alleged image of this handset leaked recently as well, keep in mind that this is just a random leak though. Anyway, Meizu will hold their press conference soon enough, mark September 23rd in your calendars, and let’s see what will the company announce.
