Motorola has announced quite a few devices in the last couple of months. The company has showcased their new smartphones at the end of July, the Moto G (2015), Moto X Play and Moto X Style. By releasing these three devices, they’ve more or less covered entry-level, mid-range and high-end categories at once. These three devices are already available in a number of regions all over the world, but we’re not here to talk about that, but about a product this company announced during IFA in Berlin earlier this month, the Moto 360 (2nd-gen) smartwatch.
This smartwatch is currently available for pre-order in select regions, and Motorola will definitely push it to more markets in the coming months. Speaking of which, the company has been teasing the Moto 360 launch in China recently, and the smartwatch is now finally official in that Asian country. Motorola has released both the 42mm and 46mm variants of the smartwatch which are priced at 1,999 and 2,199 Yuan, respectively. The Moto Maker is also available in China, as it was for some of Motorola’s previous smartphones.
The two Motorola Moto 360 (2nd-gen) variants are completely identical, save for two things, their size and battery size on the inside. The 42mm variant sports a 1.37-inch (35mm) display with a resolution of 360 x 325 and, which comes to 263 PPI. The 46mm model features a 1.56-inch (40mm) panel with a resolution of 360 x 330, and 233 PPI. As far as battery life goes, the smaller variant sports a 300mAh battery, while the bigger model ships with a 400mAh variant. This smartwatch is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 quad-core SoC running at 1.2GHz along with an Adreno 305 GPU, and it packs in 512MB of RAM and 4GB of native storage.
The Moto 360 (2nd-gen) is water and dust resistant (IP67 certification), and it sports wireless charging, similar ot the 1st-gen model. Moto 360 connects to your smartphone / tablet via Bluetooth 4.0, and is compatible with both Android (4.3+) and iOS (8.2+) devices. That’s more or less it, those of you who are interested in getting this smartwatch can put in your order now, but will have to wait a bit until Motorola ships it your way, I believe the company intends to ship this watch on October 7th.
