Xiaomi is one of the most active smartphone OEMs in the world this year, at least as smartphone launches go. Xiaomi has announced a number of devices this year, including a number of entry-level and mid-range devices, plus their Mi Note and Mi Note Pro flagship phablets. Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi 2 handset back in January this year, the company’s extremely affordable entry-level handset. The Redmi 2A was announced 2 months after the original, and is even more affordable than the Redmi 2A thanks to the Leadcore SoC which fuels the device.
That being said, it seems like Xiaomi is preparing to launch yet another variant of the Redmi 2 handset, at least according to the TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) listing which surfaced. This handset’s model number is 2014512, but unfortunately we really don’t have that much info when it comes to this phone. TENAA’s listing didn’t share any spec info or anything of the sort, juts the design of this phone, which is identical to the original, so there’s really not much to see here. We don’t know if this will be the lower or high-end variant of the Redmi 2, but as it’s usually the case, additional info is right around the corner. If we had to guess, we’d say that Xiaomi is preparing to launch a more powerful Redmi 2 variant this time around, especially considering they already have the Redmi 2A in the lower-end section.
Earlier today, we shared some info regarding the upcoming Mi 4C handset which has finally popped up on TENAA and revealed its spec sheet, It seems like the Mi 4C will indeed be the Snapdragon 808-powered device, which means it will be significantly more powerful than the regular Mi 4i variant of the device. We could guess which SoC Xiaomi plans to include in this thing, the Snapdragon 615 / 616 is definitely a possibility, but we’ll see. Who knows, perhaps Xiaomi opts to include the MediaTek SoC in this thing in the end. Either way, stay tuned, we’ll let you know as soon as some additional info surfaces.
