On Tuesday, Google is set to announce not one but two Nexus smartphones. This will be the first time ever, that Google has announced two smartphones at the same time. Typically we only get one Nexus smartphone per year from Google, dating all the way back to the Nexus One. But this year we’re looking at getting a 5.2-inch LG-made Nexus 5X and a 5.7-inch Huawei-made Nexus 6P. Yesterday, we saw a ton of presenter slides leak out for the Nexus 6P, virtually confirming just about everything. Including the 5.7-inch 2460×1550 resolution display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processor along with the 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage sizes. We even know the colors that are coming, and unfortunately Gold is going to be Japan only.
Now we have some press images here for the Nexus 6P, and one being for the Nexus 5X. These show the different colors, as well as how pronounced that hump on the back of the Huawei-made Nexus 6P is. But don’t forget the USB Type-C port that’s on the Nexus 6P. While it hasn’t been confirmed just yet for the Nexus 5X, I’d be more than surprised if it didn’t have a USB Type-C port as well. Both have fingerprint readers on the back as well. Many of us are hoping that Huawei’s fingerprint reader is as good as what we have on the Huawei Mate S. Because it is insanely fast.
Huawei has front-facing stereo speakers on the Nexus 6P, but the top and bottom bezels still look pretty thick. Making us wonder what else they might have hiding under there. After all the Nexus 6 had front-facing stereo speakers as well and it didn’t have as big of a forehead and chin as the Nexus 6P does so far. The Graphite version of the Nexus 6P looks really nice though.
We shall learn everything there is to learn about the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P on Tuesday morning. As Google is holding an event in San Francisco where they will announce these two devices, and it appears a bit more as well. Perhaps a new Chromecast and Android TV. Of course, Android 6.0 Marshmallow will make an appearance, even though it was announced at Google I/O earlier in the year.
