Earlier today a report came through detailing that the Huawei Nexus 6P was likely to come with a microSD card slot, this was as well as being available in different storage options, which was good news for those looking for greater storage abilities. However, within a couple of hours of that report, another report came out detailing that based on reliable information the two Nexus smartphones would not be coming with expandable storage.
Now, a new report is coming through from Android Police which confirms the absence of another feature on the two new Nexus devices. According to the details, nether the Nexus 6P or the Nexus 5X will offer wireless charging. This particular point might be more of a disappointment than the storage issue, for those thinking about picking up one of the devices, as wireless charging is not only a feature which has been present before on Nexus devices, but is quickly becoming a feature that many manufacturers are looking to include on their devices going forward. If you are wondering why the absence of any sort of Qi charging was chosen by Google, then it would seem the thinking is twofold. Firstly, the employing of the Type-C USB on both Nexus devices will offer a quick enough charging ability for both devices. One which will be quicker than the use of wireless charging. Not to mention, the implementation of features like Doze on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) will further help to reduce how quickly the battery is consumed and therefore require less charging, less often. As such, the details suggest Google opted to skip wireless charging on both of these devices.
