Samsung Gear S2 Will Be Available From October

The Gear S2 is the latest smartwatch from Samsung and is one which was highly rumored upon prior to its release. With the device expected as early as MWC, its much later debut at IFA highlighted how long the company was working on and planning the Gear S2, to make sure it was right and as close to the perfect smartwatch as possible. As such, when the announcement came through detailing the Gear S2 a few days back, much of the hype and speculation came to an end. In fact, Samsung not only announced the Gear S2 but also the partner launch watch, the Gear S2 Classic which adopts a more “timeless” look and feel. That is, as well as a 3G standalone connected version of the Gear S2 as well, dubbed the Gear S2 3G. So like buses, you wait for a new Samsung smartwatch and three come along at once.

That said, the announcement did not detail any of the additional sale aspects of any of the devices. As such, there was no firm indication as to when the Samsung Gear S2 will be available to buy or for how much? Well, following on from today’s Samsung event, Samsung has now confirmed that the Gear S2 will be available to buy starting from October.

This was a date which was mentioned only yesterday, as reports came in suggesting that the Gear S2 will be available in Canada from October. However, it now looks as though, the roll out will be much wider and bigger during next month. For those that are unsure about the Tizen OS which the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic come running on, then unlike the previous generations, it seems to have also been confirmed today that the Gear S2’s will work with any Android device. So you will not have to own a Samsung smartphone just to buy and use the Gear S2 or S2 Classic. Of course, pricing is still a topic which will be adjusted to reflect the different markets although European prices for the Gear S2 emerged this morning providing some indication as to how much the device will be elsewhere.
