Samsung To Launch Galaxy Note 5 In India On September 7th

Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy Note S6 Edge+ at its ‘Unpacked’ event in New York back in August, but the fifth generation Note flagship was not originally meant for launch globally. India and Europe were two of the major markets which were said to be not amongst Samsung’s preliminary list of regions to get both devices. While the Galaxy S6 Edge+ had long been confirmed for release in both these markets, it was only recently that the Note 5 was confirmed for the Indian market. The device however has already been made available for purchase in the US.

Now it looks like Samsung has fixed a date for the Indian launch of the much talked-about phablet, as the company has sent out invitations for a press conference to be held in the capital city of New Delhi on September 7th, if reports in the Indian media are to be believed. The invite simply says “Samsung India cordially invites you to witness the most powerful and dynamic Galaxy yet”, which is being interpreted in the Indian tech media as a clear hint for the launch of the Galaxy Note 5, as the S6 Edge+ has already been on the market for well over a week now.

The Galaxy Note 5 phablet is the fifth generation premium phablet from Samsung as part of its popular Note series, and as already mentioned, was announced last month alongside the S6 Edge+ by the South Korean tech-giant at its ‘Unpacked’ event in New York City. The device features a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display and is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 7420 chipset, which comes with an octa-core processor clocked at a maximum of 2.1 GHz. The phablet comes with 4 GB of RAM and a choice of either 32 or 64 GB of storage, with a 128 GB version also said to be in the pipelines for a possible future release. The handset carries a 3,000 mAh battery and supports wireless charging. Imaging options include the same 16-megapixel rear camera from the Galaxy S6, and a 5-megapixel front camera to shoot selfies with. The Galaxy Note 5 also sports a fingerprint scanner and runs on Android 5.1.1 out of the box.
