Sony's New Xperia Z5 Lineup Coming to Canada this Fall

Sony was anything but quiet at this year’s IFA in Berlin where they revealed not one, but three new Xperia Z5’s – The Sony Xperia Z5, the Xperia Z5 Compact and the Xperia Z5 Premium.  Sony said that the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact will launch globally in October, and the Xperia Z5 Premium in November…with the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium available in single and dual SIM variants.  Sony Canada reached out in a statement stating the “Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium will be coming to Canada later this fall but we haven’t got any further information on specific Canadian timing, carriers or pricing that we can share at this time.  We will keep you posted on the specifics for Canada.”

Shown in the first row above is the Xperia Z5, available in White, Graphite Black, Gold and Green.  The second row is the Xperia Z5 Compact and you can express personal style with fresh, vibrant colors including Yellow and Coral, in addition to White and Graphite Black. Below is the new Xperia Z5 Premium…it has the world’s first 4K display and the device will be available in the Graphite Black, Silver or Gold.  The Xperia Z5 follows the traditional Sony Xperia design with a continuous plate form, with a metal frame and frosted glass back with small refinements and a couple of additions, such as a fingerprint sensor power button built into the side of the device.  The basic Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact retain the FHD display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, however, the Xperia Z5 Premium uses the first 4K display for an unprecedented resolution.

When you talk about Sony smartphones, you must talk about their cameras – always one of the best shooters and lenses available on a smartphone.  With the Xperia Z5, Sony has actually upped the lens slightly to a large 1/2.3 Exmor RS for Mobile with a 23MP Sensor and an f/2.0 aperture G Lens.  It has one of the fastest autofocus speeds we have seen with 0.03 seconds – faster than the blink of a human eye.  The Xperia Z5 comes with advanced processing software and further advancements in Sony’s SteadyShot and Intelligent Active Mode for video.

The Xperia Z5 Compact comes with a 4.6-inch display and the Xperia Z5 with a 5.2-inch display, followed by the 5.5-inch display on the Xperia Z5 Premium.  All three use the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor and can take advantage of Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 – the Xperia Z5 Compact uses a 2700mAh battery, the Xperia Z5 a 2900mAh battery and the Z5 Premium a large 3430mAh battery.  All three come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory with room to expand via a microSD card.
