UMi eMax Mini Will Cost $139.99, Coming Soon

UMi is not exactly a top-tier Chinese smartphone OEM, but sure is a company that has been mentioned a lot recently. UMi has released a number of compelling devices in the last year or so, and the eMax and Iron handsets we’ve reviewed, are actually really capable devices. Well, UMi has started teasing the new variant of ‘eMax’ a while back, dubbed eMax Mini. We already know that this device will be the first UMi-branded device to sport one of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SoCs, and the device will also feature a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, and a 13-megapixel camera.

That being said, UMi has released yet another piece of the eMax Mini puzzle today, by revealing that the device will cost $139.99. This is a very affordable price point, and it remains to be seen how will the rest of its specs look like. If we had to guess, we’d say that this phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core SoC and ship with 2GB of RAM on the inside. You can also expect some metal to be included in its build, and as far as software goes, UMi eMax will ship with a rather light version of Android, though you can expect a couple of UMi apps and gestures to be included here. The phone will also resemble its sibling quite a lot, and you can expect it to be released in the next couple of weeks. UMi did not exactly share its release timeframe just yet, but we’re guessing it will happen soon.

Speaking of UMi, some rumors popped up recently stating that the company might get acquired by TCL. We still don’t know how accurate this info is, but it seems like UMi has been doing a really good job lately, and other companies are now interested in what they have to offer. Either way, we’ll let you know if any additional UMi eMax info surfaces, so stay tuned for that.
