After weeks of intensive leaks and rumors, Xiaomi has finally announced the Xiaomi Mi 4c smartphone. This is basically a more powerful variant of the Mi 4i smartphone which launched earlier this year, and judging by its specifications and price, Xiaomi might sell quite a few of these phones. We’ve already covered the initial announcement of the Mi 4c, in case you’d like to check that out, and are here to take a closer look at the phone’s specifications.
Xiaomi has managed to pack really nice specs in this device, and keep its price more than affordable. The Xiaomi Mi 4c features a 5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) ‘Sunlight’ display, the same one you’ll find in the Xiaomi Mi 4i. The phone ships in two variants, one variant sports 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage, while the other one comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The device is fueled by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor along with an Adreno 418 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel snapper (5P lens, PDAF) is located on the back of this phone, and flanked by a dual-LED, dual tone flash. We’re looking at Sony’s IMX258 or Samsung’s S5K3M2 ISOCELL sensors, Xiaomi will use both, so you can’t really know what you get on the inside. The wide-angle 5-megapixel snapper is available on the front side of this phone, in case you need it for selfies and video calls.
This device ships with a 3,080mAh battery, and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 is also a part of this package. This is a dual-SIM, dual standby device, and 4G LTE connectivity is also included. The device sports a Type-C USB 3.0 port on the bottom, but Xiaomi will probably ship a reversible connector which will let you attach your microUSB 2.0 cable to this device. It will probably come in the box (we’re still not sure), but if it doesn’t, it costs less than a dollar in Xiaomi’s official store. Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 OS on top of it. Along with MIUI 7’s regular software features, Xiaomi has also added teh ‘double tap to wake’ and ‘Edge Tap’ features here, both of which are explained in the official announcement.
The Xiaomi Mi 4c comes in Black, White, Yellow, Pink and Blue variants, and costs 1,299 Yuan ($204) and 1,499 Yuan ($235) for 2GB and 3GB variants, respectively.
