Xiaomi has been teasing the launch of their Mi 4C handset for the last week or so. The phone has been rumored for a while now, and it has even been certified in China a couple of weeks back. Xiaomi’s co-founders confirmed that the Mi 4C is real, and that it will arrive soon, and considering the company has scheduled an event for September 22nd, it’s pretty obvious they’ll launch this phone tomorrow. The company’s co-founders have already confirmed that this phone will be named ‘Mi 4C’, and have also shared quite a few images of the device sharing its capabilities. It was previously confirmed that the Mi 4C will sport double-tap-to-wake feature, and that it will offer dual-SIM, dual 4G connectivity as well. Lei Jun, company’s co-founder, has also confirmed that the Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core will fuel this smartphone.
That being said, the company’s president and co-founder, Lin Bin, has decided to share some additional info about the Mi 4C recently. The phone’s front-facing camera will sport an 85-degree super wide angle, which is allegedly equivalent to a 24mm wide-angle camera. The company’s President has also decided to compare this front-facing camera with the 1.5-megapixel selfie shooter on the iPhone 6. The Mi 4C’s camera can clearly take a wider image, which means you’ll be able to fit more people in an image, if that’s your thing. What about its rear-facing camera? Well, Lin Bin didn’t confirm it just yet, but according to a number of leaks and listings we’ve seen, you can expect a 13-megapixel snapper to be available on this phone’s back.
Xiaomi plans to produce ‘only’ 100,000 Mi 4C units, and the device will look very similar to the already available Mi 4i smartphone which originally launched in India earlier this year. The Mi 4C will sport a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, and it will be available in three variants. The first variant will sport 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, the second model will ship with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage, while the most expensive unit will come with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of in-built storage. Android 5.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed on this phone, and Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 OS will come pre-installed on top of Google’s operating system.
