Xiaomi is at this point a well-known company, at least in the tech circles considering they don’t exactly do business outside of Asia and Brazil. Anyhow, Xiaomi is China’s number one smartphone manufacturer, and they managed to sell over 60 million smartphones last year. Xiaomi is looking to improve upon the company’s results last year,, and expand their business even further. That being said, this company is also well-known for selling their devices over the internet only, well, at least until now, read on.
The company’s CEO, Lei Jun, has opened Xiaomi’s first physical store in Beijing. The company already has a number of ‘experience‘ stores opened all over the country, but this will be the first store where consumers will actually be able to purchase Xiaomi products, instead of just tinker with them, at least according to the available info. Anyhow,t his new store is located in Beijing Modern Plaza shopping center, and consumers will not only be able to purchase devices there, but also repair them if necessary. This is yet another way Xiaomi is trying to expand their business, and we’re sure many consumers will be glad the company has opened something like this. Consumers can now physical buy devices without the need to order them online, and submitting smartphones for repair should be easier than ever, presuming you live in Beijing, of course. Xiaomi has introduced many devices this year, but we’re still waiting for the company to unveil their flagship for 2015, the Mi 5. We haven’t seen any Mi 5 rumors for a while now, but according to some earlier info, the device will sport a 5.2 or 5.5-inch display along with 4GB of RAM and a couple of internal storage variants. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC was said to power this smartphone, but considering the device is expected to launch before the end of this year, MediaTek’s Helio X20 64-bit deca-core SoC is a more probable solution for Xiaomi. The 16-megapixel camera will probably be available on the back of the Mi 5, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be available up front. Keep in mind that these are just rumors at this point, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
