Xiaomi and Huawei are the two biggest players in China at the moment. These two companies are constantly trading places as number one smartphone OEMs in China, and have been able to sell a ton of devices both last and this year. The two companies have also released quite a few handsets this year, and are planning to announce some additional ones before the end of 2015. That being said, a new report surfaced in China sharing some sales data from both Xiaomi and Huawei’s camp, read on.
This report actually comes from IHS Technology’s analyst, Kevin Wang. Anyhow, it seems like Xiaomi has managed to sell 18.5 million devices in the third quarter, while Huawei managed to sell 27.4 million devices. That being said, both of these companies seem to have sold less devices than in second quarter (overall), though Huawei’s national shipments raised for about 4%.
That being said, analysts have said that Xiaomi has sold 34.7 million devices in the first half of this year, while Huawei was able to sell around 50 million. As far as national sales go, Xiaomi has sold 15 million devices in the first quarter, and 20 million in the second quarter. Huawei, on the other hand, was able to sell 11 million in Q1, and 20 million in the second quarter. Xiaomi and Huawei are still at the very top of Chinese smartphone market. Huawei has an edge internationally considering they’ve been active in a number of countries all over the world for quite some time now, and Xiaomi is slowly, but surely, expanding their reach.
It will surely going to be interesting to see what will Q4 look like for these two companies. Considering the fact holidays are coming up, shipments tend to rise quite a bit in Q4, so it will be interesting to see who will be up front as far as Chinese smartphone market goes. Xiaomi is expected to release their Mi 5 flagship before the end of the year, while Huawei might announce the Mate 8 phablet in the coming weeks as well. Both of these devices have been surfacing all over the internet for months now, and they will surely impact sales number of these two companies significantly.
