Verizon and Motorola today have been holding their annual DROID event in New York. The event was announced a couple of weeks ago and one of the interesting aspects of the announcement was the implying that they would be announcing two new DROID smartphones. Well, following on from that assumption, this is exactly what has now happened with Verizon and Motorola introducing both the DROID Turbo 2 and the DROID MAXX 2. For some, the DROID Turbo 2 will be of the most interesting of the two devices thanks to do the popularity of the first-generation DROID Turbo among Verizon customers. Part of its popularity was due to the great battery life which was on offer. Well, as you might expect, the Turbo 2 carries on with an emphasis on battery life and is certainly one of the Turbo 2’s unique selling points.
In terms of the battery, we now do know that the Turbo 2 comes equipped with a massive 3,760 mAh capacity. This is larger than most of the other flagship devices and as such would be expected to offer a decent level of daily usage. However, Verizon and Motorola are clearing making the point that the battery on offer is more than just a daily usage battery and instead falls much more in line with a two-day usage level. Verizon and Motorola are stating that the Turbo 2 is capable of offering 48 hours of battery life in between charges.
However, that is not all. As well as being a device which can provide a great level of battery life, the Turbo will also offer users a much quicker level of charging when the battery does run low. Making use of Motorola’s Turbo Power technology the DROID Turbo 2 is said to be able to offer 13 hours of battery life after receiving only a quick 15-minute charge. As such, this is a device which is clearly aimed towards those who need better battery life and quicker recharging. That said, the battery is not the only major selling point for the Turbo 2 as the device is also being touted as a very durable device which comes with a sturdier build and a “shatterproof screen“.
