Music might just be one of the most used features on a smartphone these days, which isn’t surprising given the amount of available ways one can access their favorite tunes. While most people might look to Spotify, Google Play Music or Pandora for their audio fix, if you prefer to listen to music from your own local stash there’s always the more recent CloudPlayer from DoubleTwist which allows you to still stream music, but from your own library. Even better for those who are already on board with this service is that the team at DoubleTwist has just pushed out an update to the app to give it a few more features, making it even more useful than it was before. Not quite tempted yet? Here’s why you might be going forward.
While the app already allowed you to access any of your music which was stored in cloud services like Dropbox and Google Drive, following this new update, CloudPlayer now supports Android Wear, which means you can more easily use the service if you have an Android Wear smartwatch. This make it super simple for anyone to play, pause, and resume tracks anytime they may not be able to whip out their device and manage the controls. In addition to the support for Android Wear devices, CloudPlayer also now supports devices which streaming devices which use AllPlay.
Lastly, there’s also now support for Android Auto, so if you already drive a vehicle with Android Auto inside, you can always have access to your library of music no matter where you go; Around the home or office with your smartphone, out and about while controlling music from your wrist, and in the car on your way to where ever it is you’re going. Alongside the newly supported platforms, there’s a few new features and improvements too, like the ability to scan folders directly, and choose between internal storage or microSD card storage for album artwork or offline music caches. Functionally, the last new change which allows users to add a bookmark setting, might just be one of the most useful additions, as users can now configure the app to remember playback for songs that last a certain amount of time. If you’re new to CloudPlayer or an existing user, the app update should already be live and you can grab it from the Play Store.
