This morning, Verizon and Motorola announced two new DROID devices which will become available in the coming days. One was the DROID Turbo 2 and the other is the DROID Maxx 2. Both come with a similar emphasis on battery life, although, they do offer different and more unique features as well.
As you would expect, being a DROID device does mean that the DROID Turbo will only be available through Verizon. In terms of pricing, Verizon and Motorola have now confirmed that the DROID Turbo will be available online and in Verizon stores starting from this Thursday. In terms of pricing, the full price of the DROID Turbo 2 has yet to be revealed although details have starting coming in with respect to Verizon’s installment plans. Those interested in opting for a monthly plan can pick up the DROID Turbo 2 on a two-year contract for $26 per month. This is for the 32GB model. If users want to opt for the larger storage size, 64GB, then this will be available on a two year-contract for $30 per month and will also offer the option to “refresh’ for a newer model when wanted. Although, it is worth noting the larger 64GB variant will only be available directly from Motorola’s Moto Maker site. The two companies have also confirmed that those looking to trade-in their old smartphones will be able to save up to $300 off the price of a new DROID Turbo 2 and will even have the option to trade-in a smartphone with a cracked screen.
In terms of the DROID Turbo 2, this one follows-on from last year’s popular DROID Turbo and continues an emphasis on battery life and faster charging, as well as an extremely durable build which includes a “Shatterproof screen”. The rest of the specs on offer are not too bad either with the DROID Turbo 2 coming equipped with a 5.4-inch display which boasts a 2560 x 1440 resolution. Inside, the Turbo 2 comes equipped with 3GB RAM and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor. Cameras on offer consist of a 21-megapixel rear shooter which is coupled with a 5-megapixel front facing camera. In terms of storage, the DROID Turbo is available in two storage variants, 32GB and 64GB, and both offer the option of expanding the memory thanks to the inclusion of a microSD card slot with support up to 2TB. The DROID Turbo 2 comes powered by a 3,760 mAh battery and makes use of Turbo Power charging.
