Sony surprised us when they announced the Xperia Z5 Premium as it is the first smartphone that integrates a 4K display, that’s a resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels which results in a density of 806 ppi. While the design of the phone resembles the design of other members of the Xperia Z5 family, the Premium uses shiny surfaces all over and a mirror-like surface on the back, so it definitely stands out from the rest and it might turn a few heads when it gets spotted in the wild. It’s not uncommon for some companies to release variants of their devices with support for multiple SIM cards, although those variants are usually destined for other markets.
There are reportedly two variants with dual SIM support for the Xperia Z5 Premium, one model is the E6833 and the E6883. We are still expecting the release of the Xperia Z5 Premium which will happen next month and by the looks of it, the Dual SIM version could be released shortly after. Apparently, the E6883 has been certified by the FCC, which typically means that the release date is not too far. Plus, this certification also means that this time around, the phone could be sold in the US. Certainly, the E6883 variant is compatible with more LTE bands than the other version and the FCC certification states that the phone supports FDD-LTE and TD-LTE. The card slot can carry two Nano SIM cards.
Aside from that, the specifications are identical to those found on the single-SIM version including a 4K 5.5-inch screen and a Snapdragon 810 processor (although a new cooling system prevents the phone from overheating issues) with 3 GB of RAM power up the device. There’s a redesigned 23-megapixel sensor on the main camera and a 5.1-megapixel camera on the front. There are 32 GB of internal storage and a large 3,430 mAh battery. An update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow is planned, but the phone will run Android 5.1.1 out of the box. The phone is still rated IP68 making it dustproof and water resistant and it will be available in 3 different color options including Chrome, Black or Gold.
