Elephone has been releasing very interesting devices lately. The company has released the P7000 and P9000 handsets, which are actually quite formidable offerings by the company. The high-end Elephone Vowney and three P9000 devices are right around the corner, while Elephone also plans to release the Android Wear-powered ELE Watch soon. That being said, Elephone has also released some mid-range offerings earlier this year, like the S2 and S2 Plus devices which have been around for a while now and are currently available for purchase from various Chinese resellers. Well, it seems like Elephone plans to add some new ‘features’ to the two devices in order to make them more appealing to consumers, read on.
When we say ‘ features’ we don’t exactly mean software features or drastically improved spec sheet. This China-based smartphone manufacturer has actually added a layer of Gorilla Glass protection on the back of the phone, and also the 850MHz band which consumers in specific countries will greatly appreciate. These two phones are actually mid-range devices which sport a metallic chassis which is stuck between two layers of Gorilla Glass. The 850MHz will make it compatible with Sprint and US Cellular in the US, in case some of you have been looking to purchase one of these two phones. The addition of this band will also make the phone compatible with networks in Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Korea, the Philippines, etc.
As far as the rest of the specs go, they remain unchanged. Both of these phones are powered by MediaTek’s MT6735 64-bit quad-core SoC along with a Mali-T720 GPU. You’ll find the 13-megapixel shooter on the back of both of these phones, and a 2-megapixel camera can be found up front. The S2 and S2 Plus also sport 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop. The main difference between these two phones is their size, the Elephone S2 sports a 5-inch 720p display, while the S2 Plus ships with a 5.5-inch 720p panel. The smaller device comes with a 2,100mAh battery on the inside, and the S2 Plus packs in a 2,600mAh unit.
