Exynos 7420-Powered Meizu PRO 5 Gets Heat Tested

Meizu is one of the fastest-growing smartphone manufacturers in the world at the moment, which might be weird for some people because many of them still haven’t heard of this company. There’s a good reason for that though, even though their devices oftenly end up being shipped to Europe, North America and other continents via third-party resellers, Meizu officially sells their products in parts of Asia only. That being said, this company has announced their new flagship earlier this month, the Meizu PRO 5. We’ve attended that event and covered it extensively, but additional info keeps on coming our way.

Now, as some of you might know, this smartphone is actually powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor which the company used to fuel all of their flagships this year. That being said, Exynos 7420 is one of the most powerful mobile SoCs available in the market at the moment, if not the most powerful one. We already knew that, but in case you’re interested how hot the phone gets while Exynos 7420 is running at full speed, read on. Now, the phone got temperature tested in China while it was running AnTuTu benchmarks for five minutes. The Meizu PRO 5 scored around 76,000 on AnTuTu, and it reached 39.5 degrees Celsius at its peak, while the average was 34.9 °C. The highest temperature of the back of this phone was 37.3 °C, while the back averaged at 35.8 °C.

The AnTuTu test is not the only one that was performed in China though, PRO 5 was also tested while watching video for 10 minutes in fullHD (1920 x 1080) resolution. The PRO 5 reached a maximum temperature of 34.6 degrees Celsius, while it averaged at 32.4 degrees. The back of the device reached a peak of 34.2 °C, and it averaged at 33.5 °C. These results are actually quite solid, and the phone was never too hot to handle or anything of the sort.

The Meizu PRO 5 sports a 5.7-inch 1080p display along with 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage. The 21-megapixel camera (Sony’s IMX230 sensor) is located on the back of this device, and a 5-megapixel snapper can be found up front. The device sports a fingerprint scanner below the display, which is also a physical home button, and the capacitive back key. The mCharge Quick Charging is also included in this package, as well as 4G LTE support. Android Lollipop comes pre-installed on this phablet with Meizu’s Flyme UI available on top of it.
