The tablet sales haven’t been doing all that well for quite some time now. There could be a lot of reasons for this, but one of the main culprits are probably huge phablets. 5.5-6” devices (even bigger than 6-inch) have become a standard these days, and it seems like consumers don’t really need a tablet alongside their phablets. Phablets are at least one part of the ‘problem’. Anyhow, it seems like Samsung intends to release yet another rather odd product to the market. The company’s huge ‘Galaxy View‘ tablet has been rumored for a while now, and has also leaked in images quite a few times. Well, the tablet has surfaced yet again recently, read on.
The 18.4-inch Galaxy View listing has popped up at Adorama. This huge tablet is now available for pre-order at the site for $599.00. The specifications listed on Adorama actually fit in well with the leaks we’ve seen thus far (at least most of them do). The tablet will reportedly feature an 18.4-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) TFT display along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 128GB). The Galaxy View will be fueled by the company’s Exynos 7580 octa-core SoC (called ‘Carmen2’ by the retailer), and a 5,700mAh battery will be available on the inside. The 2.1-megapixel snapper will be available up front, while the camera won’t be available on the back of this thing. It seems like this tablet will be available in both Wi-Fi only, and 4G LTE variants. As far as software goes, the Galaxy View will come with Android Lollipop pre-installed.
The source has also added a number of images of the Galaxy View tablet, which you can check out in the gallery down below. The Galaxy View isn’t the only huge tablet that will be available in the market, both Alcatel and Sony have introduced rather huge ‘kitchen’ tablets called OneTouch Xess and Xperia Tablet Z Kitchen Edition, respectively. That’s pretty much it, if you’d like, you can pre-order the Galaxy View from Adorama for $599, it seems like only the Black colored variant is available at the moment. This listing actually appeared prior to the announcement, Samsung still hasn’t officially announced this device, but is expected to do so soon.
UPDATE: The listing is removed now.
