The Fall is officially upon us, and it’s unsurprising that Google is looking to use this opportunity to push their recently launched Google Photos product. The free service was launched over the Summer, during Google I/O 2015, and we’ve been sent a little heads-up from Google (including their custom made image, just for us) about a little event they’re holding in New York City. If the proliferation of Pumpkin Spice Lattes weren’t enough indication, the US kind of goes nuts for pumpkins this time of year and Google is looking to capitalise on this for their Google Photos product.
On October 29th, Google is holding a “Pumpkin Patch” event in the city where both New Yorkers and tourists can “relive those treasured memories of the past and create new ones without ever leaving the city”. The event will take place in Times Square from 12PM until 8PM and Google will be offering up apple cider donuts using their Pay With a Photo Food Truck. Attendees have the chance to have their photo shown on a billboard in Times Square using the Google Photos Photo Booth, and there’ll be a special carving machine for New Yorkers to get their pumpkins carved right.
The Fall is always a big time for keen photographers, and considering Google Photos aims to make our lives that much easier keeping track of all our favorite moments, it’s no surprise they’re looking to have a little fun with the season. Besides, if there’s one thing that Google is good at, it’s offering up a little phone and if you’re in New York next week, you’ll have the chance to meet some of the Photos team and generally just have a good time. There is of course an official hashtag to go with this, which is #PUMPKINPATCHNYC and this is free to attend.
