Google Release 360-degree Promo Video for Play Music

Google’s Play Music service has come a long, long way since it originally launched as Google Music, and since then the inclusion of All Access and smarter playlists have made it a formidable service. All Access has been around for some time now, but Google recently gave it a shot in the arm with the introduction of a pretty great Family Plan. Said plan includes six subscriptions for the low, low price of just $14.99, making Google’s offering one of the cheapest out there, and there’s nothing out there that can match this sort of flexibility at this price point. Google is obviously pretty keen to push Play Music as a family brand, and this is what they’re pushing in their latest ad.

In a 360-degree offering on YouTube, Google have offered up an atmospheric ad that touts Play Music as a service for the big moments in your life and of course, hanging out with family and friends. While the new Family Plan isn’t mentioned in the video, it’s clear that this is something Google wants people to think of when they consider Play Music All Access. There are three sections in the below video (which is best explored on a smartphone that you can touch and drag around the different views) including an apartment party, a drive in a classic car and the eavesdropping on a young couple by the beach. These are the sort of bizarre themes that suit a music streaming ad so well, after all.

360-degree videos have been available on YouTube for some time now, and while they’re best-enjoyed using a VR headset of some sort, like Google Cardboard, they’re still fun to explore on a touchscreen device. Ads like these aren’t perhaps going to draw in hoards of new subscribers, but as the Play Store becomes more and more an integral part of Google’s online portfolio, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if more ads like these appear in the coming months.
